Google Fiber Headed to San Francisco

Google on Wednesday announced its latest upcoming Cobweb city—San Francisco.

In a blog post, the Web giant said information technology has mostly focused on building fiber-optic networks from scratch, but it's taking a different arroyo in The City by the Bay. "We'll bring service to some apartments, condos, and affordable housing properties, using existing fiber," wrote Google Fiber'southward Director of Business organisation Operations,Michael Slinger.

This will allow Google to bring the super-fast gigabit Internet service to residents more rapidly. Google has already tested out this arroyo in Atlanta, leveraging existing cobweb infrastructure to deliver service to apartment buildings in the city'southward suburbs.

It's making a like move to hook upward Huntsville, Ala., where Google plans to team up with a metropolis-owned network that has been in the works since 2022, rather than finance the entire fiber network itself.

"We have a lot of work to do earlier nosotros can offer details on service and timing, or identify the specific condos, apartments, and affordable housing properties that volition exist continued," Slinger wrote. For now, residents and belongings owners interested in Google Fiber tin sign upwardly for updates.
